Bertie & Ernie
Monday March 8th we welcomed beautiful Bertie into our family, and we were so in love with him we just had to have his brother, Ernie, who was the last remaining puppy in the litter and he was collected the following day. Bertie lived with me Ellie, & Ernie lived with his Dad, Cam. Ernie was a miniature whirlwind, he loved to chew and run around so fast it was mind blowing. Bertie was more of a gentle character and just enjoyed a good sniff and a snuggle.
On Thursday March 11th our 12 Year old Dog, Gizmo, seizured in the middle of the night and then began to lose his sight & hearing after losing his ability to walk. He had battled a brain tumour for almost a year, and that day he left to go to the rainbow bridge. While this was happening Bertie went into the vets to give the family some space due to the tragedy and fast rate of gizmos passing, they checked him over and discovered he too was not well. After further Scans and blood tests they could not determine what the issue was, and said he would need a CT scan and that potential treatments could be thousands. The following day, he passed away and no outcome was determined.
Out of concern we immediately rushed Ernie off to the vets where we were instantly turned away, we were told he needed to go directly to hospital as his temperature was far too high and there was nothing they could do. He stayed in hospital that Friday night, where he then tested positive for Parvo. The vets did everything, he underwent every treatment they could’ve given him, he started to get better on Saturday and we were planning his arrival home on the Monday/Tuesday, but his health drastically declined, the vet explained that if they give him the medication he needs he may not be able to take it but that if they didn’t he wouldn’t make it so they proceeded to treat him he then sadly passed away on the Sunday.
We were in touch with the breeder who gave us a refund for Bertie, but he wasn’t taking responsibility for Ernies death. We sent invoices & vet records for both puppies but very soon our messages weren’t being received so we went to his house to find he had moved.
