Dachshund mix up

Just seen a news articles about Reggie so went straight on the FB page.

It’s so sad to hear and we are fully behind you.

Me and my partner are in a similar position with being mis-sold a different breed.

We were looking for miniature Dachshunds and found a KC registered breeder in Aberystwyth!

Due to COVID we had to firstly view the puppies on FaceTime. They were with their mother and told the father was only an hour or so away. We were send the online KC link to the mum and dad and took her on her word.

We agreed to take two of the puppies falling madly in love with them. We noticed while FaceTiming that the girl had slightly curly hair and was obviously bigger. We did bring this to her attention and she said she couldn’t put the finger on it and that she swore they were from her dog and the father.

Once we’d picked up the puppies at 9 weeks old we got them home and took them to be register at our vet. The vet stated that she was sure they were not from the same litter and that the girl appears to be a cross breed. Possible dachshund and cocker spaniel. Luckily she said they are both healthy and we shouldn’t worry.

She was also advertising on Pets4Homes and stated they were pedigree miniature dachshunds.

We have bought a DNA test to see if they are indeed a mix breed and to gather evidence to try and have her shut down as she could be working with a puppy farm or works with another breeder that is over breeding their dog.

Looking back their were some obvious signs. She wanted some of the money in cash. She didn’t have the hard copies of KC papers (just links to the parents online). The address she gave us was for a house a few doors down, this house was boarded up and god forbid this is used in some sort of puppy farm ring.

Needless to say we are thrilled with them and realise how luck we are that they are health.
